Privileges

Assign privileges

Privileges determine what actions members of a group may take on the Easysite installation. To assign privileges go to Administration -> Groups.

1. Select the appropriate group and click privileges. The following view will be presented:

2. Select the appropriate category and check to assign the relevant privileges.

Explanation of privileges

Privileges and short explanations:

System administrator

Note: system administrator privileges apply to all sites in the installation.

User Administrator - allows users to manage all aspects of Easysite Users.

Group Administrator - allows users to manage all aspects of Easysite Groups.

System Administrator - allows users top level access to Administration for sites across the installation, in particular the System configuration interface. Note: this Privilege only exists on the master site for the installation. 

Manage IP Addresses - allows the users to enter and manage IP addresses in order to allow automatic sign in by IP.

Assign IP ranges - allows users to assign IP ranges in the Administration interface.

Manage File Extensions - allows users to manage File Extensions.

Grant WebService Access - The WebService allows data such as form information to be exported as an XML file. This privilege allows the administrator to grant users access to the WebService.

Grant Category Import Access - allows users to import Categories.

Manage System Configuration -  allows users to manage/configure the Configuration interface.

System Security - allows users to manage encryption settings for the installation. 

Manage Staging - allows users to manage staging.

Manage sites -  allows users to manage and configure additional Sites.

Manage Easysite Software Updates - allows user to update the version of Easysite. 

Manage Easysite Security - allows users to access and configure the Encryption interface.

View Themes Error Log - allows users to view a Themes error log which is available at: 

/EasySiteWeb/EasySite/Administration/SystemSettings/ViewErrorLog.aspx

Manage User Agents - allows add and edit names and IP address of Bots in order to allow User Agents to be associated with accounts.  

Site Administration

Note: Site administration privileges apply to the site currently being administered.

User Manager - allows users to manage  and edit users details. Without this privilege Administrators can see Users, but can not click through to edit their details.

User Manager (Public Users only) - allows users to manage Public Users via the People interface.

Group Manager - allows users to manage Groups, including Members and Applicants. However, Group Managers can not delegate Groups or create Groups.

Group Membership - allows users to add Members and approve or decline applicants to groups. This privilege does not allow Groups to be added or deleted or privileges to be granted.

Manage Identity Provider - allows the Administrator to manage Identity Provider settings.

Manage Page Variations - allows the user to create and manage Variants.

Change Page Caching - allows users change Page Caching Rules.

User Activity Panel Administrator - allows users to manage all aspects of the User Activity Panel.

Switch Site Homepage - allows user to select an alternate homepage via Page Explorer.

Delegated User Manager - Delegated Group Managers may only view Members and Applicants for the group(s) they manage. This privilege allows the Group Manager to click though and view/manage the details of user in their group(s).

Manage Search Options - allows users to configure the site Search.

Manage Meta Data - allows user to create and manage Meta Data.

Manage Site Styles - allows user to  install and manage Styles.

Manage Site Details - allows the user to manage Site details.

Grant Content Permissions - allows users to grant content permissions. 

Assign Users and Groups from Other Sites - allows users to assign users from other sites to groups on the current site. 

Send Broadcast Message - allows users to use the messaging function. 

Manage External Providers - allows user to manage Authentication Connectors.

Manage Registration Forms - allows users to create and manage registration forms

Associate Regions with Current Site - allows users to manage regions via the languages interface.

Manage Site Locales - allows user to create and manage locales via the languages interface.

Manage Registration Form Settings - allows users to manage registration form settings.

Change Site Navigation Type - allows users to change the site navigation via the Setup interface.

Receive Feedback Notification - allows users to receive notification of Page Feedback.

Set Asset Retention Policy - allows user to manage Asset Retention.

Set Asset Review Policy - allows user to manage Asset Review.

Content Editor

Manage Categorise Target Pages - allows users to categories target pages.

Manage Shared Lists - allows user to create and manage Shared Lists.

Moderate Feedback - allows users to Moderate Page Feedback.

Manage Feed Categories - allows users to categorise RSS feeds. 

Cascade Element Configuration - allows the user to cascade change to template elements to existing pages.

Template Import and Export - allows the user to export and upload templates.

Change Page Style - allows users to apply alternative Styles to pages.

Set Read Write Permissions - allows users to change Page Permissions.

Page Ordering - allows users to Reorder Pages.

Page Relocation - allows users to Relocate Pages.

Manage Page/System Categories - allows users to manage System categories.

Define Templates - allows users to create Templates.

Manage Templates - allows users to manage existing templates.

Manage Feeds - allows user to create and manage RSS Feeds.

Manage Meta Data - allows user to manage Meta Data.

Restore Deleted Pages - allows users to Restore Deleted Pages.

Manage Page Locks - allows users to manage Page Locks.

Force Permissions On Child Pages  - allows users to cascade page permissions.

Manage Page Comment Options For Site - allows users to manage Comment Options for the site, such as enabling comments on all pages.

Manage Page Rating Options For Site - allows user to manage Ratings.

Manage Page Feedback - allows the user to manage Page Feedback settings, such defining text for labels and buttons.

Page Deletion - allows users to Delete Pages.

Copy Pages - allows users to Copy Pages.

Community Content Relocation - allows users to manage community content relocation.

Page Auto Creation - allows users to manage Page Auto Creation.

Schedule Page Deletions - allows users to Schedule Page Deletion.

Content Author

Edit HTML in Content Editor - allows users to edit HTML. Note: HTML editor must be installed via the Modules interface to enable this functionality.

Author Content - allows users to edit pages. Note: this privilege also presents the Administration button, allowing users access to Administration.

Create Pages - allows users to add pages to the site.

Create Page Alternates - allows users to create page alternates.

Change Page-Categorisation - allows user to categorise pages.

Allow Setting of Page Go Premium Dates - allows the user to set Go Premium Dates.

Share Content - allows the user to share content. 

Consume Content - allows the user to consume content.

Workflow

Workflow Manager - allows the user to create and manage a Workflow process.

Workflow Audit - allows the user to Moderate Workflow.

Set Workflow Permissions - allows the user to apply workflow to a Directory.

 Apply Workflow to Pages - allows the user to apply Workflow to specific pages.

Manage Transitions - allows the user to create and manage Transitions.

Force Workflow On Child Pages - allows the user to cascade workflow down through a section of the site.

Personal Settings

Change Account Details - allows the user to change their account details.

Change Contact Details - allows the user to change their contact details.

Change Email Preferences - allows the user to change Email Preferences.

Delete Self - allows the user to delete their own account.

User Is Message Centre User - allows the user to send and receive messages via the Message Centre.

Modules

Modules - allows the user to manage installed modules.

Manage Modules - allows the user to manage modules.

Plugin Installation - allows the user to install plugins.

Plugin Development - allows the user to create plugins via the API.

View Activity Report - allows users to view the Activity Report.

View Comment Reports - allows users to view the Comment Report.

View Page Authoring Reports - allows users to view the Page Authoring Report.

View Workflow Reports - allows users to view the Workflow Report.

View HitTracker Reports - allows users to view the Stats Report.

Languages

Manage Languages - allows users to manage languages via the Locales interface.

Manage Regions - allows users to manage regions via the Locales interface.

Administer Global Regions - allows users to manage global regions via the Locales interface.

Manage Locales - allows users to manage locales via the Locales interface.

Manage Localisation Module - allows users to configure the Localisation module.

Data Exchange

Manage Data Exchange - allows the user to create and manage Data Exchange packages.

Manage Content Import - allows the user to manage content imports.

Manage Page Importing - allows the user to manage page imports.

Assets

Administrator - allows the user top level access to asset functionality and reporting.

Assets in Content Editors - allows the user to add assets into content editors.

Author - allows the user to upload assets.

Custom Sizes - allows the user to create and manage Asset Sizes.

Delete Assets - allows users to delete assets.

Editor - allows the user to edit and manipulate assets.

File Restrictions - allows the user to manage file restrictions.

Locks - allows the user to view and removeAsset Locks.

Quick Add for Categories - allows the user to add categories in via the Asset Manager interface.

Reports - allows the user to view reported assets.
