The presence of multimedia content is a consistent and ever growing requirement when creating new state of the art website powered by Easysite. With this information in the back of our minds the Easysite application is integrated with a number of different multimedia players which will be automatically selected based on the specific file extension added to the Asset page element. This article outlines the different multimedia players in use and there associated file extensions.
The presence of multiple integrated multimedia players enables Easysite to maintain a broad spectrum of multimedia support. Before deciding which multimedia file types to use within your Easysite installation it's important to consider any potential limitations or restrictions in place for the target audience of the websites.
For example, many NHS organisations have restrictions meaning only Microsoft Internet Explorer based browsers can be used. From experience, most versions of Internet Explorer do not come with a Quicktime player installed by default and organisations restrictions mean the player cannot be added.
Whilst this is not an exhaustive list, here are a number of the more widely used file types and the Easysite integrated player which will be used to display the associated content.
Note: that theses details are referring to the associations against Easysite 6.5.6 release.
