Drop down element

This element provides the user with the option to select the most appropriate answer from a drop-down list.

A typical result of a drop down list when populating the database is:

1.Drag and drop the ‘Drop Down Box’ element into the appropriate location:

2. Configure the element:

3. Select Define Question. The following view will be presented:

4. Edit/Configuret:

Field  

Enter the element (database) label.

Physical Width      

Enter the width in percentage of the page for the element.

Answer On a New Line     

Tick to place the answer field below the question. Useful where the amount of text stored in the database field is likely to be large.

Must Select an Item                    

If required, check to make the field mandatory.

Show in Detail Page      

Select whether this field is displayed when the full (i.e. detailed) database record is displayed. Useful if some fields need to be searchable but hidden from view.

Summary Page Options      

Selects whether this field is displayed in the summary listing. Also, allows the field to be displayed as a link, which, when clicked, display the detailed database record. You can also list the data ordered on the basis of this element.

Note: if required select Order Records by This Field. This options allows the to click on the field label and sort entries by this field.

Listing Page Options  

Selects whether this field is display when the directory is rendered as a list.

Note: this option applies if the directory is to be displayed via an RSS feed.

Include Keyword Search 

Specifies whether a keyword search of the directory should include the values of this database field.

Provide as a Search Option 

If required, check to provide a dedicated search field for this element. Fields marked as a search option can be exposed to end users via the Directories page element,

Show Key Value/Pair    

Checking this option shows both the field name and the corresponding value on the detail page. Unchecking will show only the value.

Click Update Element to save.

5.Click Add Answers:

6. Enter an appropriate answer, and click Save Answer:

Note: checking Default Answer presents the selected answer to the user as a default.

If required, use the Up/Down arrows to change the order.

7. Click Complete

Note: To change the element for the answers to be displayed, select Change Element and select an alternate element.
