This element provides a free text area.

A typical result of a text area when populating the database is:

1.Drag and drop the ‘Text Area’ element into the appropriate location.

3. Edit/Configure

Rich text Editor    

If required, check to allow for font formatting within this field. Once selected entry authors will have text formatting options including font size, bold, underline, italic and colours

Field    

Enter the element label.

Default Value    

If required, enter an optional default value.

Physical Width           

Enter the width in percentage of the page for the element.

Physical Height

Enter the height in number of characters, including white spaces. Once this height is exceeded a scrollbar will be added to the element.

Character Limit    

Maximum number of characters that can be entered in the field.

Note: this can currently be limited to a maximum of 999,999,999 characters.

Answer On a New Line   

Tick to place the answer field below the question. Useful where the amount of text stored in the database field is likely to be large.

Must Be Filled In   

If required, check to make the field mandatory.

Show in Details Page

Select whether this field is displayed when the full (i.e. detailed) database record is displayed. Useful if some fields need to be searchable but hidden from view.

Summary Page Options   

Selects whether this field is displayed in the summary listing. Also, allows the field to be displayed as a link, which, when clicked, display the detailed database record. You can also list the data ordered on the basis of this element.

Note: if required select Order Records by This Field. This options allows the to click on the field label and sort entries by this field. 

Listing Page Options        

Selects whether this field is display when the directory is rendered as a list.

Note: this option applies the directory is to be displayed via an RSS feed.

Include in Keyword Search    

Check if required..

Provide as Search Option

If required check to provide a dedicated search field for this element. 

Show Key Value/Pair

Checking this option shows both the field name and the corresponding value on the detail page. Unchecking will show only the value.

Populate Metatag             

If an appropriate metatag has been created it can be populated using this field.                                                    

4. Click Update Element to save.
