Textbox

The Textbox element allows a single line plain text field to be added to a Directory. A typical result of a text box when populating the database is:

1. Drag and drop the Textbox element into the appropriate location:

2. Configure the element:

3. Edit/Configure:

Label

Enter an appropriate question.

Layout

Select whether the question and answers are displayed in two separate columns, or whether the answers sit under the question as rows in a single column.

Mandatory

If required, check to make completion of the field mandatory.

Physical Width           

Enter the width in percentage of the page for the element.

Default Value

If required, enter an default value - this could be an actual value or an instruction on how to populate the element.

Character Limit    

Maximum number of characters that can be entered in the field.

Note: this can currently be limited to a maximum of 999,999,999 characters.

Must be an email address

If required, check to only validate data containing the @ symbol. 

Require Input Confirmation            

If required, check to require the user to enter data twice.

Show in Detail Page  

Select whether this field is displayed when the full (i.e. detailed) database record is displayed. Useful if some fields need to be searchable but hidden from view.

Results View      

The Results View is a tabular display of matching records. The Administrator will determine which fields are listed in this view.

Options

Select whether the field is displayed as a link to the full record, plain text or hidden from the Results View.

Orderable

If required, check to make records orderable by this element.

Listing Page Options        

Selects whether this field is display when the directory is rendered as a list.

Note: this option applies the directory is to be displayed via an RSS feed.

Include in Keyword Search    

Check if required.

Provide as Search Option

If required check to provide a dedicated search field for this element. 

Show Key Value/Pair

Checking this option shows both the field name and the corresponding value on the detail page. Unchecking will show only the value.                

Display as Page Title

Uses the field entry to create a Title for the detail page using the value of this field.

Display as Heading 

Uses the field entry to create a Header for the detail page using the value of this field.

Populate Meta Tag

If enabled. check to populate a selected Meta Tag with the data from this field. Select the appropriate Tag.

4. Click OK.
