Categories

Categories

Categories may be used to aggregate content across the site, and may be used to group Pages, Assets and entries in a number of Modules. In order to allow for easy management of categories and consistency of naming conventions all categories are initially created via a single list of System Categories.

System Categories

To create a System Category go to Administration -> Content -> Categories & Tags -> Categories. The following view will be presented:

Options

The following Options are available:

Add

To Add a new System Category go to Administration -> Content -> Categories & Tags -> Categories.

1. Click to select an appropriate parent category and click Add. The following view will be presented:

2. Edit/configure:

Title

Enter an appropriate name for the category.

Description

Enter a description of the content or usage of the category.

Note: the site search may be able to access category information via a metatag.

Keywords

Enter appropriate keywords for the content of the category.

Note: the site search may be able to access category information via a metatag.

Avatar

Template elements such as Category Navigator may utilise the Avatar as a visual representation of the category. To add an avatar click Browse to select an Asset from the Asset Manager or Upload to use a new image.

Share category

If required, check to expose the category on other sites in the installation.

Share category branch 

If required, check to expose the category and any children on other sites in the installation.

Premium Category

Premium Content refers to content that is restricted but exposed to anonymous users via the navigation or by a template element such as Page Lister. An anonymous user attempting to access the content will be prompted to login or register in order to view the resource. Pages are made Premium by adding them to a Premium Category. If required, check to make the category Premium.

Managing Existing Categories

To manage a Category go to Administration -> Content -> Categories & Tags -> Categories.

1. Select the appropriate Category. The following view will be presented:

1. Right click on a Category. The following view will be presented:

2. Select the appropriate option.

3. Drag and drop a Category. The following view will be presented:

4. Edit/configure:

Relocate

Relocates the dragged category to the new location in the hierarchy.

Copy Node

Creates a copy of the single selected category in the new location in the hierarchy.

Copy Branch

Creates a copy of the selected category and any children in the new location in the hierarchy.

Share Branch

Share the category and any children to the new location, creating a polyheirarchical relationship between the original category and the new location.

Relationships

Relationships details and polyheirarchical relationships between the selected Category and any other Categories, together with an option to delete these relationships.

Objects

Objects details any items associated with the Category across the site.
