Meta Tags are defined as data about data and are visible to software such as Search Engines and the site search. Some Meta tags may require manual population by the page author.
Content
To populate Meta Data for the page select Tags:
1. Edit/configure:
Owner
If required, click Change to select a page owner. This user is typically the person ultimately responsible for the content of a page, as opposed to the author who entered the content.
Title Tag
The content of the Title tag is displayed in the browser tab at the top of the web page. This is typically the name of the page followed by the name of the site and is usually set on a per site basis.
Canonical
Canonical tags are used for SEO to allow different pages with similar content to be grouped together without triggering negative scores for duplicate content or “spamming”. Canonicals allow the preferred URL of a page to be indicated to a search engine, for example: <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.ideagen.com/support/" />
Allow Query String in Canonical
If a Canonical URL contains a query string - for example in the case of Directory entry such as http://resources.easysitecms.net/knowledge-base/help-articles/easysite7-help-articles/administration/systemsystem/data-exchange/packages/new-package/data-exchange-how-to-guide/?entryid46=26935&q=d99cb183-bee8-4956-9d28-dedb87a03ae8~CSV+Data+Source~e7ab692a-d3db-48ff-9026-324719bea98a~Directory+Builder+Import~ - check to include the query string in the Canonical URL.
Meta data tags
If required a dedicated title tag may be added for a page.
Complete the remaining meta tags as required.
