Browser Support: Formal certification for Internet Explorer 6 and 7 removed

Description

As part of the Easysite 7 upgrade there will be a few alterations to our browser support information.

Authoring and Administration of Content

For Easysite 7, EIBS are no longer able to formally certify the Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7 browsers for the authoring and administration of content. This is (i) due to security concerns and the absence of vendor support from Microsoft and (ii) their inability to support the technology used to underpin modern web application interfaces such as those used within Easysite 7.

What does this mean?

EIBS will process any reported issues for formally certified browsers and regular test Easysite on those browsers and devices.

However, EIBS will not undertake remedial actions on reported issues that are specific to uncertified browsers such as Internet Explorer 6. We will review customer reported Internet Explorer 7 issues although not guarantee to undertake remedial actions if the faults are unique to that browser.

Note that users may continue to use any browser they choose, whether certified or not, as long as it fulfils the functions they require. However, we strongly believe that customers should upgrade to modern, fast and secure web browsers such as Internet Explorer 10, Internet Explorer 11, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari.

This should not affect the visitor experience for browsing web site where the design was implemented to support legacy browsers.
